Nightmares do come true - "Technical Difficulties"

I went home early from work yesterday, not feeling well at all. Took a long nap, ate, watched a movie and went back to sleep and slept in. But all night I had a nightmare that I could not connect to the webinar today - connection issues, I was late, slept in, phone wouldn’t connect - anything that could go wrong went wrong in my dreams. Tossing and turning all night. I am sure you know the kind of dreams I am talking about when you are sick. Not fun! And then it happens. I log in to the webinar… Continue

eLearning Guild Annual Gathering

We have had a GREAT time at the Annual Gathering in (almost) sunny Florida. (I left Oregon at 70 degrees, came to Florida at 70 degrees... hmmm. More palm trees!) First of all, WELCOME to all those who have joined the group from ELG! It is great to have you. Let's continue the conversations we started at the conference. I have promised a couple things: 1) A discussion on tools and 2) a webinar showing the Social Learning solution I have put in place for my company. The first one I will start to… Continue

I started a discussion about tools (http://sociallearning.ning.com/forum/topic/show?id=1186303%3ATopic%3A3123)

Hopefully that will help. If you know more, please add!

Thanks, KJ! I think Social Learning is undoubtedly the answer to nextgen learning, where learners can "learn" from each other. It's time that learning goes beyond the elearning screen and becomes "dynamic". I am glad to be here and hope to learn and share! :) Hey, I am quite interested to see any latest technology advancements in the Social Learning space that leverages Web 2.0. If any body knows any, I am listning. Thanks!

Hi Kevin-
I have been doing some research on social learning technologies. I'll provide a biblio when the report is published.

Hi Kevin. I have at least two roles in my job. I work in an FE college and lead a level 1 group of learners who have typically not engaged with the compulsory education system or have a range of learning difficulty. It is quite a task to motivate the learners and get them to take responsibility for their learning when they have previously had little choice (other than to opt-out). The major work with the learners is on personal development, I would typically use a range of methods to engage them and social learning through active social sessions or using social applications. Blogs encourage self-reflection and mobile devices, social spaces or Wikis are a great way of getting the learners to "talk" or cooperate. That's the main reason for joining this group. I also have a great interest in how learning environments are changing.

Are you available January 18th to do a run through? And then on the 25th, when we do this for real, will you please be the moderator? Let me know if that will work for you.

Thanks for your help and all your great comments on this site!

It worked for me on this page. Is that the one you are talking about?
If not, you can click on your name at the upper left and it gives you all the ones you are a member of.

Kevin, I just joined your group. First group in a long time that was of interest to me from Cascadia ASTD. Was wondering why it does not show up on my Ning home page. Was surprised that I could not navigate to this group from there. Am I missing something?
