Hi there. I use the RSS reader that comes with Outlook 2007. I check it just as I check email that way. I have pretty simple requirements and it works for me.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for the Vision of Students Today vid. I'll check out your other entries later (I'm a newbie here--still learning my way around the site).

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to participating in the community discussion. I'm interested in learning more about Social learning...and while I'm not an educator, I'm coming at the topic from a business and technology perspective and happy to share what i know...and also listen to the social learning experts here!

Cheers.

I started a discussion about tools (http://sociallearning.ning.com/forum/topic/show?id=1186303%3ATopic%3A3123)

Hopefully that will help. If you know more, please add!

Thanks, KJ! I think Social Learning is undoubtedly the answer to nextgen learning, where learners can "learn" from each other. It's time that learning goes beyond the elearning screen and becomes "dynamic". I am glad to be here and hope to learn and share! :) Hey, I am quite interested to see any latest technology advancements in the Social Learning space that leverages Web 2.0. If any body knows any, I am listning. Thanks!

Hi Kevin. I have at least two roles in my job. I work in an FE college and lead a level 1 group of learners who have typically not engaged with the compulsory education system or have a range of learning difficulty. It is quite a task to motivate the learners and get them to take responsibility for their learning when they have previously had little choice (other than to opt-out). The major work with the learners is on personal development, I would typically use a range of methods to engage them and social learning through active social sessions or using social applications. Blogs encourage self-reflection and mobile devices, social spaces or Wikis are a great way of getting the learners to "talk" or cooperate. That's the main reason for joining this group. I also have a great interest in how learning environments are changing.

Are you available January 18th to do a run through? And then on the 25th, when we do this for real, will you please be the moderator? Let me know if that will work for you.

Thanks for your help and all your great comments on this site!

Objections - Let's Solve Them All!

Last year at DevLearn I presented a session about the top 15 objections to social learning and how to overcome them. It was a GREAT session. In fact, it was where Dave Wilkins and I met and where we started doing the podcasts, webinars, SocialContinue

My id.10t error

The other day my 13-yr old son asked why he wasn’t able to make something work on the computer. I jokingly told him it was an “id.10t” error. He didn’t get it. I had him write it down, then he got it - an “idiot” error.

Well, we all make them, as I just did. In setting up the October webinar I didn’t put the correct link to register:

October Webinar: Informal Learning in the 21st Century

Join us for the Social Learning SIG’s October Webinar

Title: Informal Learning in the 21st Century

Description: There’s a true transformation happening on the Internet. The passive read-only experience of static web pages is changing into active participation via the read-write web. Our children are on Facebook and listening to podcasts on their Ipods, and every day we hear about blogs, wikis, RSS feeds, and the like. We know the online world is changing. We know that an interact… Continue

Nightmares do come true - "Technical Difficulties"

I went home early from work yesterday, not feeling well at all. Took a long nap, ate, watched a movie and went back to sleep and slept in. But all night I had a nightmare that I could not connect to the webinar today - connection issues, I was late, slept in, phone wouldn’t connect - anything that could go wrong went wrong in my dreams. Tossing and turning all night. I am sure you know the kind of dreams I am talking about when you are sick. Not fun!

And then it happens. I log in to the webinar… Continue
