Hi there,
I have two - the one from Annie Hall - and the one from Monsters Inc.
Annie Hall has a scene where Annie says something like - well you wanted me to take classes at night. And Woody Allen says adult learning is for the birds. .. (Oh I gotta find the quote now) I showed it at the beginning of a train the trainers session - it was a hoot.
The second favorite is from Monsters Inc where they are doing a deomnstration training on how to scare children? Fun!
The Wizard of Oz. Glenda is the ultimate facilitator. She starts them off, returns when they need help, comes back at the end to tie up all the loose ends and sends them home with an application plan.
Years ago Rick Howell and I did a train the trainer course for Red Lion Hotels. We even had a yellow brick road and the emerald city. The characters fit really well with different learning styles. It was really fun and effective.
My favorite movie metaphor for "ultimate learning" is The Matrix. In one of the pivotal scenes, Neo undergoes "training" by having a computer connected directly to his brain and downloading the skills/knowledge he needs. While this would be the optimal solution for training, Neo still needs to be taken into an environment where he can apply his new knowledge and skills (also, the ultimate simulator).
